    mosin oiler question

I have a bit of a problem, i need to store my hoppes #9 in a watertight container so i decided to use the oiler that came with my 91/30 but i hear that hoppes can eat through certain metals and finishes. So my question is, should I keep storing it in the oiler, or should I get something different like plastic

What's wrong with the Hoppes container?

Really? I never noticed mine leaking, but then again, they're typically kept in the upright position.

I would say give the mosin oiler a try and see what happens. What's the worst case scenario, you lose a $5 oil tin?

alright, ill see what happens with the oiler, I just need a way to keep the solvent and the smell from escaping, thank you anyway though.

Good luck with the smell, that stuff is harsh!

This is more of a question of if hoppes eats steel, maybe I shouldn't have put it in c&r

I can't imagine hoppes eating steel, considering most gun barrels are made of steel.

hrmm, just read that it eats aluminum, which apparently has to do with ammonia.

Here is the MSDS for it.
