    K-31 Stock

Caught a case of the swiss flu and picked up a K-31. However, the beech stock was beaten worse than Rodney King. It looked like someone rowed boats and pounded tent stakes with it, and in the process, chipped part of the handguard.

Are there reproduction K-31 stocks I can buy?
I don't see a left-hand device on swiss products... are they still available?
Would adding a clamp on muzzle brake affect barrel harmonics and accuracy?

    Thanks.

Although not specifically answering your questions, lots of good info here:

Contact Latigo directly for the Swiss Products questions, it's his company.

Our stock making machine will be operational sometime this summer. Actually, it's operational now, but no time for any of us to run it.
The LHOs have never been on the website because they don't sell through our distributors. There's not enough demand for them to stock them.

Though I've never noticed it, users of the Clamp-On Muzzle Brake claim it helps accuracy. I doubt that, but it's an extremely effective Brake on a k31.
You can repair the handguard easily. When you raise the dents and sand the rifle, save all of the sanded wood dust. Make a mix of the wood dust and Elmers Wood Glue into a heavy paste. Fill the missing piece, let it harden for 72 hours and then shape and sand.

I assume you mean it to be left hand operated.

I would love to see your setup. I made one as well, using parts of a couple different systems and my own modifications. I can do a full stock with a better-than-rough cut inletting in about 2 hours.

For it's type, its a state of the art Terrco 2 up machine. Very fast, very clean.

I'm looking to use this in high power matches. (never shot those before) I think the K-31 falls under foreign service rifle or any rifle category. So can I use recoil pad (LOP is waaaay too short, maybe they designed it with winter clothing in mind like the mosin)? Is there classification difference between as-issued sights and diopter sights?

                    Thanks for the replies, Latigo.

Diopter sights have never been an issue sight, but they are typically used in all Sanctioned Swiss Matches. Recoil pads are not allowed in most military Milsurp as-issued matches. There are new categories that do allow the Diopter for long range.
