    Vintage steady rest designs?

I have seen a number of methods of support used in the Vintage Military matches -- everything from an ammo box with a rolled-up mat to some fancy store-bought ones -- and want to know who has the best design? I want to make one that is adjustable, transportable and that makes the "x" ring much larger... well, the first two anyway.
Photos, scale drawings and blueprints are welcome.

Not sure of what you are looking for; I welded these up out of scrap. Sorry, no blueprints LOL.

Pretty cool -- the vintage military matches allow non-mechanical/metal front rests. Some shooters have some height-adjustable rigs and I am looking for ideas for mine.

We use crossed sticks at our military bolt action Silhouette matches, similar to the ones used for Black Powder Cartridge Rifle matches. Very steady, adjustable for height, and they don't take up much space.

I wish...somewhat.. Would be cheaper then buying soft/hp rounds. They were all fmj, so they sat still as i fired .50 cents a round down range..still had a dam fun time for my first event
