    CMP and the 03s?

Does any one know if CMP is going to be selling any 03's soon? Or for that matter any enfields? Last question I was looking at the receiver they sell with the custom barrel ( forgive me I forgot the name ) now will this fit in a 03 stock with some modifications ? Sorry but some reason after getting a garand from them this past year I have really wanted a 03. Thanks guys and buy the way this Curio and Relic section has cost me allot of money. First all I wanted was a garand now I have a C&R and love these old battle queens! Thank you guys for all the advice there really is a wealth of it here!

the CMP said they will be selling '03s sometime in 2009. As for the special receiver.. you're probably referring to the Mann Accuracy Device.. No it will not fit in a 1903 stock...This basically a big honkin receiver to test barrels.. Someone over on the CMP or CSP (Jouster) site did put one in a stock.. but I think it was a special bench rest set up. As for wanting an 03 I might have one up for sale in the for sale section next week(I gotta find some capitol to pay for the 3 Carbines I just sent off for)

CMP does not expect to receive anymore large foreign returns of M1903 rifles. They expect to have some veterans organization returns for sale in the future, but they will be few in number and may have damaged bores from firing blanks and poor maintenance over many years.

As to M1917 rifles, don't count on 'em. Same as above but even fewer.

I got one of the Vet returns from CMPs last batch. It wasn't worth the $600 I spent. The barrel was shot out. I suppose I could replace the barrel. I'm reluctant to do so since it's a 1918 barrel on a 1917 reciever.

Of course some of us did score with that last release like my correct smith corona 03A3. I'm kicking myself for not ordering a M1903 when I had the chance.

I ordered both a 03 and an 03A3 from the last batch. The 03 bore is dark and pitted, but the 03A3 (an SC as well) looks almost pristine. It makes me wonder where it was hidden for 60 years. I'm not too upset, since I wanted them only for historical pieces, and I got one shooter to boot.

I have a CMP Springfiled '03 for sale on the "For Sale" forum. And I'm in Sacramento. If you're interested, PM me w/ your email address and I can send you photos.
