    Today is a great day!

Early on April 5th I made the decision that I deserved the privilege of owning a few more of the greatest single battle implements ever devised by man. Following some hasty printing and form filling, I was off to the post office to mail my order out. Since April 5th I had been teased with pictures and stories of people receiving their own marvelous pieces. It really made the days drag on. Scouring the CMP forums looking at others' newly acquired treasures did help somewhat, but only in the way that going new car testing when you can't quite afford one is wonderful and awful at the same time.

Fear not! The CMP felt my angst and kicked their awesomeness into overdrive, pushing my order through in an amazing 17 days from their receipt of my order form to my receipt of my rifles!

I had already done this dance with the CMP in January when the new service grades were released, I ordered 2 and received an amazing pre-war Springfield with original barrel!! Very Rare. The other rifle was an HRA, that while in fabulous shape, just didn't do it for me.

Fast forward to this morning, 10:32 am. FedEx was 2 minutes late! I'll forgive them this time. .

Out the window I see it...

It is officially a good day, but will it be great? I greedily move the boxes to my garage.

Open both carboard boxes at the same time to reveal excellent CMP hard cases, included free with each purchase no less!

After waiting 17 days and literally having dreams creep up at night about today, I squeak open the cases one at a time, going ridiculously slow. Hoping not to catch a glimpse of ugly orange CMP wood that is coming on many of the new service grades, especially the Springfields. The first case is open and wow!

This is the Springfield. It's a 5.48 million rifle. Everything is correct but the trigger group and gas plug. And everything is COVERED in cosmoline. I'm super pleased with this rifle. It is graded as having a MW of 1+ and a TE of 2+.

After opening the second case and finding my HRA, I new today was a great day. Both rifles are amazing. Both are covered in cosmoline. Thankfully I have no work today except hours behind a tooth brush and heat gun. The HRA was tagged as having a MW of 2 and a TE of 2. It is correct minus the bolt!

Not to hijack your thread, but why are yours so much prettier than the one that came to me this morning? Nice score! [IMG][/IMG]

Your stock has seen some action for sure! That's how my first HRA looked. What serial number is yours?

I included a donation to the CMP along with my order.

Maybe my dark forward handguard would look better on your rifle. PM me if you would be interested in trading.

I hate your good day. It makes my day feel more dark and dreary. Great, now I gotta go buy something. Those guns are very nice by the way.

                Nice score! Congrats!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
