    Cannon fire

Wednesday, May 2nd about 11:00 I will be on Range 9 (subject to change) with "Old Moses" -- my full-size 1841 6-pound smoothbore cannon doing some demonstration live-fire with shot and canister. No shell, unfortunately!

This is the cannon you may have seen on "Mythbusters" shooting at pirate ships, and trying out chain and nails as improvised ammo.

No, we did NOT launch the cannonball into Dublin.

You are welcome to come out and watch.

That was YOU at the Match, Yesterday! You're the 2nd Calgunner I missed meeting.
        At least I met Mustang.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

It is all these "secret identities" we have here. I am bad enough about names, but when I have to remember a real name, a screen name and the one your friends call you when you have your muffs on, it is tough!

"Old Shooter" is a double-play on, well, my age, but also on a term used at the ARNG nationals. 32 is (was) my badge number and call sign for way too many years as a cop. I was going to use "Old Moses" (cannon's name) but thought I'd be thought to be a religious fanatic or something. "Moses" was the nickname my wife picked for the gun since he "speaks with a great voice and lays down the law." I added the "old" to celebrate his years of service... And because it sounded cool.

I have a couple solid shot and some canister loaded up...some water barrels and Sillhouette targets are going to be sorry! (not the steel Sillhouette ones though.)

Still on. Two canister and two solid shot at least...

I'd love to come out and see you shoot your cannon; unfortunately there's no way I can make it. Have fun.

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.
