    Why are you into C&R?

The "Why Mosins" thread got me thinking...what's the appeal to you of C&R in general?
For me, I'm big into history. Couple that with the fact that I like shooting and C&R collecting was a natural fit. Lower on the list of reasons is that I like the feel of a solid rifle and military C&Rs are just that.

I'm big into history, especially WW2. I always have been, for almost as long as I can remember. Once I got into shooting, I eventually realized there had to be some surviving WW2 rifles out there, and I discovered surplus rifles

It was a match made in heaven. Shooting and collecting C&Rs combines my love for history with my love of shooting. It's a win-win.

I love the feeling when the box with a rifle shows up at the door! It is like X mas day! Then I open it and take in the smell, the cosmo all over the hands and knowing if the rifle could talk it would have some great stories just adds to the thrill. Then I take it out and get to shoot it to top it off........ Well there is not many things better!
You got to keep on keep'in on!!!!

^ can't disagree there! I like History as well. Being a Veteran adds to my Interest as well. I'll take a decent Historical rifle anytime over a modern one. I prefer the modern handguns tho.

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Milsurps, for me, are just loaded with history...military history...I even collect the bayonets, slings, and other accessories for ALL of my milsurps!!...

...I also like to shoot something with iron sights on a 100 yard range and feel confident that I shot well...WITHOUT a scope!!...

...I have been raised here in CA around firearms my entire life...I have every gun that I have ever received (up to this point)...started as a teen with a Remington single shot .22 LR...then a Winchester Model 1200 shotgun...then a matching pair of Remington Model 700's (.308 and .25-'06)...all before the age of 21...

...I just started collecting milsurps last June...

          ...I now have 13 Mosin Nagants (7 Finnish, 3 Soviet, 1 Spanish, 1 Hungarian, 1 Chinese)...1 Swiss k31, 1 Swiss 96/11...and 1 Swedish Mauser m96...

...as you can CLEARLY see, at least for me,...milsurp collecting is WAY more interesting, cheap, and fun, when compared to other firearm collecting (4 non-milsurp guns from age 13 to age 43...and then...the addiction began...SIXTEEN milsurps in less than ONE year!!...)

Actually, it was because of how affordable 91/30s are.

              The rest is history.

Oh, and I guess I do like history too, and I used to play the WWII games when I was little.

I like old guns, that's why. Rather than milsurps however, I've been concentrating on lever action rifles, primarily Marlin and Ballard.

C&R guns: history you can experience for yourself.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I agree with all who mentioned history. I just like real wood furniture coupled with milled/forged parts.

Yeah I admit that my 1917s, 1903s, 03-A3s, Swiss 1911 & K31 and M96 Swede could never beat a finely tuned AR in the firing line. However one must realize that my vintage rifles were made without the use of 7 figures CNC machines and computer modeling. Slide rule and hard work.
