    Type 53 Before and After

I took that beat up Type 53 and sanded it down just a little then added some clear Shellac then repeat several times . Wanted to keep it simple . I could always darken it up. Opinions and be nice

          Vast Improvement!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

No, he destroyed most of the collector value. Originality is key.

IMO you really didn't improve its looks... in fact I think it looks worse with it being so light.

Think about it that rifles has looked like it did for decades before you messed with it...

Jeez. This conversation always crops up. MackMan (and every other "noob"), this forum will have two camps: purists, and...uhh...functionalists. Purists wanna see originality, and will holler loudly when something's changed. Functionalists will look at a gun and say "How can I improve this and get it looking how I want it?" Don't take it personal.

                          If YOU like it, great!

Personally, I prefer the original, dirty, nasty, story-telling gunk that is on a gun. Clean it enough to make it functional, like a conscript, but dirt is good in my mind.
