Well my Type 53 arrived Thursday from J&G and was going to post some pics Check out the beautiful wood stock

Upload the pics to a photo hosting site like photobucket and then post them here.

To get them on to CGN from photobucket, you'll need to paste the direct link for the picture in between [IMG][/IMG] tags.

I think photobucket has a link that already has the [IMG] tags with the link.

For the low rent version, you can just atach images uding the paperclip icon. Select paperclip and when youre on the manage attachments screen and select whatever images youd like to share.

Don't be afraid of that stock. It will clean up beautifully. Try here for stripping instructions. In lieu of the oil finish you could go with shellac to keep it original.

I like it when my milsurps have "character"...then I'm not worried about the various ding/dents/scratches they inevitably get at the range.

That will buff right out. A little 150/220/320 and some shellac, it'll look perfect. I like the dings, I leave em in.

$175 for a non-refurb mosin seems like a deal to me.
