It took about seven weeks when I renewed mine earlier this year.

      Waiting

Mine also took about 6-8 weeks. It had expired for nearly three weeks by the time I got the new one in January.

Probably not a good idea really. It's only a 1 year certificate, trying to renew after 6 months will probably get it rejected since it isn't close to expiration. I've had it happen on other government paperwork.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

              update:
received new coe today in mail, was issued 5-6-2012.

so 33 days from mailing it out to getting the new coe in the mail.... pretty decent.

Have you seen any benefit from having it? Guessing you must have since you're renewing it.

I never followed through with mine after getting my 03.

It's allowed me to avoind the 10 day wait on a couple of C&R purchases from an 01 FFL.

It was pretty painless, just sign the renewal form and send money.

It saves a second trip if you find something neat in a shop in another county. More importantly, it also allows you to buy handguns whenever you find them.
