    Sterile SKS?

Anyone know anything about a sterile SKS? I was looking at my SKS which appears to be Chinese and noticed it lacked any factory codes. No triangles, no Chinese characters, not even the "M21" markings. Just an all number/no letter serial number.

I already looked around in other forums and boards but couldn't find anything close to mine. Any help to date it would appreciated.

Photos? A sterlie Chicom could mean it was made of parts and everything was rubbed out which I had a paratrooper like just like that. You could tell it was a parts rifle then stamped with just numbers.

Does the serial number start with "88"?

Hey everyone, sorry about the delay. Picked up another T99 and been busy with that one.

Anyhow, to answer SVT-40, no the serial number does not start with 88. It's 178***.

Pics will be posted as soon as I can get my camera back.

With no pictures I would suppose it was a Yugo. Generally, Yugos came with a 6 digit serial number and no other markings. Does it have a muzzle break on it? If not I would say it's a Yugo M59 as opposed to a 59/66 which would have a muzzle break and a massively long bayonet.

yugo sks's have a letter prefix before the serial number. i believe what the op has is a chicom sks but without pics its difficult to determine.
