    Yes.

    Original German slings:
Simpson Limited - Explore our trusted selection of antique and modern firearms, collectibles, and accessories. Family-owned since 1962.

Used slings of unknown and known origin:

There are also some tolerable reproductions out there.

Be advised, they are pretty easy to fake. Even the ones sold has reproductions have Nazi markings and waffenampts.

What do you think about reproduction slings sold by Classic arms for $20.

Some are on eBay - amid the fakes. Study up on the differences between real WWII German, Post war Austrian, Israeli, Norwegian, Yugo, etc that are out there.

Some difference in opinions too, especially regarding late war slings.

Those look to be just plain tanned leather, the ones I have seen/used were much darker. Looked exactly like this one, actually:

I got mine from Sarco, for about the same price.

But a leather sling is pretty much a leather sling, pretty hard to screw one up.

Nothing wrong with the repro slings.

I'd rather have that than some half rotten 70 yr old leather strap.

I bought some repros, they are still in the bag, never bothered to put them on. Came with a sight hood too. I have some originals as well, put them on the rifles and then took them off. Someone told me not to leave the slings on if you were just gonna keep them in your safes.

The repros, to me, look like crap - but if you were gonna be hauling the rifle around all day I guess I'd put it on.

The repro sight hoods - by the way - are sometimes too thin. They actually can pop off when you are shooting. A real sight hood is a royal pain to either put on or put off.

Some are too short to use correctly while shooting.

Pretty much what Roger said. I put it on, then took it off for a range tirp and never put it back on. I shot a match with the rifle and just used a nylon strap, worked just fine.

                        That's a shame.

I guess the one I have direct experience with was one of the good ones. My friend picked it up at either Cow Palace or San Jose, for $30.

So slings on Mausers don't mess with POI? I don't know and am curious.

Indeed. It's almost like a waste of a good rifle, (no offense). To each their own.

They're fine shooting rifles. I think that the 98k and the K-31 (especially the K-31) are the finest shooting bolt guns that Central Europe had to offer in those times.

If there was, I didn't notice. It was a 3 gun match, shooting steel at 200 yards, in the rain:

I wouldn't think it would though, the barrel band with the front sling point is fully supported by the wood of the stock.

True true, about the front of the sling being supported by wood.

I know I've said this before, but that is such a neat picture. Every time I see it, it kinda makes me want to get a Mauser of my own and quit mooching off my friend's Sauer.

Alas, I should be buying some GP-11 before I get any Mauser.

Are you shooting in the prone with a "hasty" sling in the pic?
