    Type 53 at the range

    Sorry, no pictures.

Brought the Chicom rifle to the range yesterday.....uncleaned, straight out of the shipping box.

    Cosmoline still in the barrel.
    (not that much mind you)

Rifle shot well, hit the target at 200 yards.
Worked fine and I'm sure the cosmoline is out of it now.

Will probably take it back out and do an accuracy report later....after I cleaned it up.

    So, I got a shooter!

So this is the AIM type 53 that you just got? Do those M44's (and type 53) shoot high like the 91/30's?

200 yards for a Mosin Cosmoline Machine, very nice.

Wait... you shot a gun with cosmoline in the barrel? Wow. that took some guts. Glad you made it out safely.

Yeah, wow. Cosmoline in the barrel/bolt? How are the T53's in this area? Are they cleaner than our normal milsurp friends? I'm always scared to shoot a new "friend" till it's squeaky but they've been the Russkies and Finns.

OHOD, I dont know if you saw the one Mark brought.

I brought some ammo for it, and since it was still early on, the blast scared the crap out of everyone and we suddenly became the center of attention. Too bad the damn thing was key-holing...

There was barely any in there.
Not like it was all caked inside the bore. There was so little, it just looked "frosty".
After shooting, it was nice and shiny.

No bayonet. I'll fold it out next time and compare.

The funny part is that the rifle did OK in the bullet muzzle test.

But the inside of the bore was a travesty. Other than that, his rifle would have been good to go after a little clean up of the exterior metal. Damn shame really.
