The Master Plan to Fix the M1

    Gentlemen,
This is a posting for the new guys to play with. Here is a problem with the M1 Garand that Ordnance had a plan to fix. The year is 1942 and we are at WAR! Can any of you guys come up with the answer to this problem worked out by the Brains at Ordnance. They didn't even get the date right. It is 3/12/42 Have fun.

Thanks again for taking the time and effort to read this data. I hope you learn so data.

hmmmmmm, my guess is either for riding against the barrel to recue wear or soften the op's punch-- as in this was one possible thought up fix for cracking recievers with the grenade launchers.........

      Gentlemen,
Ordnance found out about this problem very late. Ordnance was using oil to keep the op-rod and bolt moving. In light rain they found out that the oil in firing would come off and the M1 Garand would lockup. Their plan was to place that felt into the oprod and drill a hole into the op by the bolt. Each G.I. would then get his can of oil (sounds like 'Nam with the early Colt's) and he would be ok. After spending 100,000 dollars on this project they ask Mr. Garand what he thought. His answer was grease. end of story. Play Nice.

Haha. Man of few words. Sometimes people tend to "over-think" some problems.

        I'm one of them...
