    Japanese Type 38

Well I have been trying to ID a Japanese rilfe I have for a long time now. I even did a thread here. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a copyie Of Japanese Rifles Of World WarII at a gun show. I have now IDED it. It is a Type 38 Carbine series 5 made at the Nagoya arsenal. With late safety with a mid range sereral number. The stock hass been cut a couple inches and the chrysanthemum is intacked. Now I just need ammo that is not 50$ a box so I can take it out shoot it.

While that's a good book, Also pick up (MROJ) Military Rifles of Japan 5th edition by Fred Honeycutt, Jr. Or Frank Allan's book which focuses solely on the T-38.
Both of these gents frequent the Japanese collector forum over at Gunboards.

Besides expensive Norma ammo, Hornady makes a SP 6.5X50 Japanese for about $25.00 per 20.
Also, Mr. Nambu sells nice, newly hand-loaded 6.5 for $19.00 per 20.

The best and cheapest way is to roll your own. New Privi 6.5x50SR Japanese brass is available and just about any .264 projectile will work for it.
It's a very easy and flexible cartridge to load for.
