    Star Super 9mm

Ive had a Star Super for more than 10 years. It was shot alot in 9mm Largo and when Federal Arms came out with 9mm P barrels I bought one. Since then its been shot alot again. All six of my boys learned to shoot with it. Anyway this weekend I was teaching one of my wifes friends to shoot and the barrel lug snapped off. luckily the only sign that something was wrong was that it would fail to eject about half the time. when I removed the slide to clean it I found the piece of the lug. My question is, Does anyone make a new barrel for this gun? I put the largo barrel back on for now but would like to find another 9mm P barrel. thanks DR

I don't know if he's still in existence, but this guy stocked Star Super parts.

Federal Arms Corporation made the 9x19 barrels but went belly up, and I think Century bought up their assets.
www.barsto.com/ might make you a barrel.

Can the lug be welded back together then re-heat treated?

Ask on the "Spanish Pistols" forum at www.gunboards.com There is a member and regular poster there who is Spanish and lives in northern Spain. His name is Jorge; he goes by the handle of "Star" and apparently bought the remaining parts when the Star and Astra plants went bust in the '90s. I have bought other Star parts from him and know him to be knowledgeable and honest. I don't think he has barrels left but he or one of the other members there will know where to find them if anybody does.

Not sure if Model B Super 9mm Para barrels will work in an A Super, but those guys will know.

For the sake of the OP's blood pressure, might I suggest he obtain those parts from ANY other vendor than Sarco?

In my experience Sarco is kinda like the lottery--IF you're lucky and find somebody to help you that knows what they're doing AND you're lucky and the parts picker knows what HE'S doing, AND you're lucky and the inventory people actually input the right parts AND their location in that mess, AND you're lucky and the inventory people didn't just forget to input the fact that they sold out last week--you might get the part. No guarantee that it will be "as described" tho. (But sometimes they are BETTER than described).

                So, "you feelin' lucky?"

Actually nobody should have their blood pressure go nuts because of a tricky hunt for parts. Dude, it's just huntin'! It's supposed to be FUN!

(I've been doing this for 60+ years and my blood pressure is still OK....the key skill of a hunter, parts or game, is patience. And don't forget persistence.).

Good luck getting that Star shooting 9mm Para again. I have a "B Super;" it is one of my favorite handguns. Just feels RIGHT.

I've purchased several items from Jorge (STAR) over the years. I've always been pleased with the transactions and his prices have been fair. It may take him a week to get back to you by email so be patient, but i've not had any problems at all despite the long distance transactions.

FYI, I saw some at Century that looked to be a pretty good deal. I can't seem to find my login but you might wanna check it out.

I know. They are just not a CA friendly C&R dealer; they won't ship C&R guns to this state. I've also heard numerous complaints about their products being of shabby quality, upon arrival.
