    Arisaka Type 99...

My grandfather picked it up and brought it home from the Pacific Theater. It has basically been sitting in his closet for 70 years. I finally asked if i could borrow it to shoot it. Has basically zero rust, the barrel was dirty but after one cleaning cloth through it looked great, no rust.

Shot it finally today and it was great. Way less recoil than a mauser or a mosin. I was easily able to hit a scuba sized tank at 100 yards and also an 18"x18"(roughly) metal plate at about 175 yards.

too bad ammo is so expensive, but it is great fun.

    Ill get some pictures asap.

Save the brass and start reloading. Or sell the T99 to me!

Graff & Sons has ammo for a good price.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

            Discount ammo

I have one my father brought back. I build the brass out of cut down 30-06 cases. Take a look at this article.

learn to reload. The type 99 is easy to load for, you can get a small single stage press, and resize 30-06 or .270 cases for it. bullets, use .311

can you guys recommend a good press to use? something cost effective, as i would only be reloading the 7.7 for now.

This is probably a question for the reloading forum. Then you can get 7 pages of different ideas. All you need is any bench mounted single stage press. I would look for a used one on the Ammo and Reloading forum. I wouldn't try to do this round on a Lee hand press. Single stage reloading presses last longer than you will. I got one of mine off of the local Craig's list. Good luck!
