    has anyone ?

pulled the steel clad surplus 30'06 m2ball ammo and switched the bullet for a non-magnetic bullet?

seems that it would be a cheap and easy way to have m1garand range ammo.

Believe it or not, back in the days of plentiful and cheap surplus ammo this was done to make inexpensive hunting ammo. The failure rate is rather high due to collapsed necks on the case and crookedly seated bullets. With today's high ammo prices this could again become worthwhile. If you try it, keep track of your costs and success rate and post it.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

A few of the Garand competitors are pulling the surplus bullets and seating Sierra matchkings in the cases.
