    Is this worth the $$$?

I been seeing this on RGUNS:

I've been wanting to do a Mosin project but taking one that all ready has a stock makes me cringe a bit. Making a project out of one that doesn't have a stock is more appealing. What do you think, worth the money? Also has anyone ordered anything from this company and if so how was the experience?
Please don't say: My money - My Choice - I know that all ready!

rguns is a good site. My friend who has his ffl and c and r did something similar to what you want to do. He bubba it and made it his personal project and went through this site.

What do you have to lose?

RGuns' prices on barreled actions always seemed really steep to me, considering that with a C&R FFL, you can buy a full rifle with bayonet, ammo pouch, tool kit and oiler for literally $15 more in some places. If you wanted to make a custom project, you could always buy a full rifle for cheap, disassemble everything and part it out on ebay. Hell, with the going rate of loose parts, you might even make some extra money in the process.

There again you have the legality of a barreled action being C&R eligible as discussed in a thread here.
Also, buying a complete rifle for a few more dollars would make better sense to me.

They list it as being C&R eligible and that's honestly all that matters.

Not all vendors will ship this to a 03. Classic Arms for example will not ship a stripped Mosin receiver to an 03.

Totally depends on how a vendor interprets the law.

in re: barreld actions being 03 or not, i know allan schisel of allan's armory initially listed barreled actions as non-C&R but has since amended his policy.
Seems to me that is a reputable dealer sells them as 03 then it's safe. but, iirc, any retailer can set any standard exceeding the laws as long as its not protected class discrimination

I said that a few days ago and was called stupid.

ATF is quite clear that a stripped action is not a C&R, and firearms must be in "Original Configuration" based on ATF Ruling 85-10, using the congressional record for a law passed to allow importation of surplus military rifles as basis that only complete firearms are "of interest to collectors" and therefore C&R.

They also state "minor change such as the addition of scope mounts, non-original sights, or sling swivels would not remove a firearm from its original condition"

Some people seem to believe that any missing parts is not "original configuration", and therefore ineligible for C&R status.

It looks like R-Guns, Samco, SOG, JG Sales and Century all consider a few missing parts but otherwise original configuration close enough. They get audited all the time, I personally would take their word for it.

Legality aside, for the price difference between that barreled action at $60 and a complete rifle from JG Sales at $79, the complete rifle is a no-brainer. You can certainly sell the stock, accessories , and Bayonet in the marketplace for more than $20.
