    CZ-82 9 X 18 Pistol

Curious about the CZ-82 9 X 18 pistols available from AIM Surplus. Heard good reviews about these pistols. AIM advises they are C & R eligible. My question is can they be legally shipped to a C & R FFL holder here in California? What about the 12 rnd magzines they come with? If it is on the C & R list, are the magazine exempt from the High Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device restrictive law? Thanks.

    - Magazines are not exempt.
    - Not legal to have shipped directly to you, with an 03FFL.

You can go out of state, purchase one, and bring it back into California and register it within 5 days using a special form and paying a $19 fee.

I have two, someday I'll get one of them out to the range. For magazines, you can purchase the ones for the CZ-83 in .380ACP and they'll work. J&G Sales over in Prescott, AZ has them in stock. You can hop on over there and purchase both the pistol and the CA-compliant magazine.

to add to mister livingston's comments:

due to their C&R status, the guns are exempt from the "Safe Handgun Roster" requirement. This means you can have them sent to your local 01 FFL dealer (minus the 12 round mags) and do the DROS...

but it's just easier to drive to Prescott and visit J&G Sales...

How long is the drive from So-Cal? (LA)

Yahoo Maps calles it 6.5 hours from L.A. to Prescott Valley. Somebody in another thread recently mentioned he was looking for somebody to carpool with over to J&G.

It takes about 6.5 hours. If you can get out of LA then you can just cruise along the I-10. The only odd thing I remember is the state rd 89 or 71 was pretty twisty and stuff so it is a bit of a change after cruising on straight boring interstate for hours and hours. The ride down from Prescott to Phoenix is nice and fast.

If you're taking the wife, Cabazon outlet mall is along the way so you both can drop a pile of money on the trip.

BTW, if I didn't have to work Sunday and it wasn't a crazy travel weekend I'd be all over that carpool offer.

Thanks to all for the info. I didn't realize J&G Sales had the CZ-82 nor did I know about the CZ-83 9 rnd mag replacement which makes it legal for the great state of California.
