    Mosin problem..

I got a Mosin Nagant for christmas and took it apart completely to get all the cosmoline of and re-assemblemed it and racked the bolt back and pulled the trigger, it went click just fine...multiple times to be exact. Then just the other day I did it again and it did not go click, when I rack the bolt back and forward again, the back of the bolt is not pulled back like it should be, however I can physically pull it back and pull the trigger to make it click.

But it should not be this way, I hope I am explaining this clearly, I want to know how I can fix this. My guess is there is something with the trigger, since the bolt is assembled correctly and it was working fine. No clue what happened, looking for some advice.

    Thanks!

Yeah, take it apart again, and pay attention to how you put back the pieces.

The triggers on these are composed of two simple parts, FWIW...not complex at all.

yeah i did take it apart and compared it to my brothers (he has the same one), and we figured out that the trigger spring part which screws in directly in front of it has a slight bigger bend in it on my brothers than mine. In the picture I've included, my gun is on the right, you can see the triggers are being pulled back until there is pressure, thats it, not pulling it back all the way. Mine on the right has much more play (more space) in between than my brothers on the left. His works fine and has a crisp, short pull on the trigger. My trigger pulls much further and wiggles more than his...

That doesn't make any sense, they cant both be on the right.

Is the small pin that holds the trigger installed?

The slack on Mosin triggers can vary substantially. Usually not a problem.

It seems the sear/spring may be bent to the point that it will not engage the cocking piece properly. If so you're going to have to tweak it so it will engage. A loose screw could also be a cause.

Hard to say without seeing it firsthand, but only so much can go wrong here

i had sort of the same problem happen to me, take the mosin out of its wood, down by the trigger there is a pin, make sure that is in there tight, and by the pin there is a screw holding spring tension, it that is loose it will NOT click.
the pin goes in that little hole and keeps the trigger together. PM me if you have further issues, i know how annoying old rifles can be when you take tham apart!
