its a fun little guy. its got a nice weight to it and the wife loves it. it was my father's rifle as a boy. its got a variety of different sights you can flip up and stuff.

    in all a great 22.

i have a few. All are very accurate for 60+ year old .22's. Havlin Sales sells parts for these (firing pins, other small parts). Check out the CMP boards as well as Rim Fire Central for tons of info. Gun Broker has several listed now.

A true old school tack driver. It's heavy and I use mine on the bench.

Low cost, very light, very fun rifle. US Marked models were used by the military as training rifles. Magazines can be a bit pricy but given the age what do you expect?

A small percentage of these are tapped on the left side for a scope mount.
Most are blued but a few military refinished units are parkerized.

Pretty ugly trigger. Had mine tuned. Great sights! Love mine!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

This one is short too, but I added a 1" spacer between the stock and the buttplate which helps quite a bit.

Any older .22, especially pre WW2 are definitely not for midgies. They can be as big, if not bigger than say a Garand (more or less). Check out some of the US contracted .22 trainers. Lots of steel and wood.

Winchester model 52 is also a great old school .22 shooter. Can get pricey though.

I had a local GunFlake do it. He did an excellant job, but I had to bug him weekly for 4 weeks ( after he had it a month) to get him to finish it.
In retrospect, a bolt gun has a pretty easy to tune trigger. If I were to do it again, 15 years later, I'd do it myself.

Yup, a few Winchesters, some Remingtons(513, 540??, 40X/HB), a Stevens(416), another Mossberg(144US) and several others....some of the later .22 trainers, say 50's-60's got really big and heavy....such as the USMC marked Remington 40X. Some of the later stuff, such as the Kimber 82G (for Gov't) were more for competition I guess....still quite large!
