SO I am on the fence for selling my SKS Paratrooper (shooter) or trading for A Russian SKS... Sound like a fair trade? I dunno...I think the C&R bug bit me hard lol

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the "paratrooper" SKS really just a shortened Chinese copy? I mean, it was never actually ever issued and used by any genuine paratrooper unit? The Russian, by contrast, is pretty much the gold standard for SKS collectors. Not necessarily the rarest or best or most collectible, but they're the originals, sort of like Colt 1911's.

Get the Russian by means of trading the para. That's what I'd do, unless you never plan to shoot the Russian.

Well I do have two Paras and you are correct Paras where never issued or created for Chinese Military use it was just a market gimmick.

Nice. But give the Chinese Credit Para's are almost as Pricey as Russians. Say about 50 dollars less give or take but really surprised how the value went up for them over the last few years.

I enjoy my two Russians, but I'd love to eventually grab a para. The paras are hard to find in my area. Keep your paras and just buy a Russian!

Why are the paras more valuable than a run of the mill Romanian or Yugo? Is it simply an availability issue? Are they somehow fitted and finished better? (coming from the PRC, I would find that astonishing) are they more accurate? Are they significantly lighter or better handling due to the shorter OAL? Just asking - I've owned a Romanian SKS, but not really an SKS aficionado by any means.
