    SVT 40 Rail Mount.

Do all SVT 40's come with rail slots for a scope?

Thank you in advance for your help!

No, I think the ones made in 42 on didn't have the rail slots cut into them.

No. even with the rails, the mount will not mount unless it has the groove on the top of the receiver.

It will, with the locking pin removed. The after market Ukrainian mounts need just a tad of fitting, and most will hold tight enough, that if you tap them on with a rawhide hammer, they stay put.
Another way to keep your SVT original, and still mount the scope, is to drill and tap the mount rail, and use a small allen head set screw that bottoms in the rail cut.

Do you have a picture of what you mean?

There were many receivers that had scope rails machined on them, but much less were made into actual sniper rifles.
An original sniper rifle had to have a groove cut on top of the rear of the receiver, for the mount locking pin.

                Bummer, I don't have that.

Thank you so much for the information.
