I'd hitup gunbroker or auction arms. I was lucky and inherited my Colt 1911 that was made in 1918
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Do you mean a 1911 that was used in the war, or a modern replica?

If you are in the bay area, Contra Costa Collectibles has them in Walnut Creek. I think the price for a nice original A1 is a couple grand and up.

If you just want something that looks original and you can shoot the heck out of, look at the Springfield GI. I have one and it's a nice shooter and on the CA list.

Beware of any 1911 coming out of Huntington Beach.
