    Identify this rifle

While talking to a Russian friend of mine, an old Russian movie came up, and she produced this picture:

Any idea what this rifle is? My first thought was a bubbarized (ivanized?) Mosin, but no, the trigger guard is all wrong. I thought it might've been a chopped down Berdan rifle the Russian military used before the Mosin Nagants, but that one doesn't have the finger grooves, or that crossbolt. At this point, my best guess is that it's some sort of .22 trainer. The movie is, I think, from 1960's. So, what say you?

Looks like a Russian designed rifle for sure.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

I think it is the glasses.. but I seriously did a double take when I thought I saw a Russian Rick Moranis.

I'm as confused as you on the rifle... the finger groove appears to have a large metal stud at the back end, much like a mosin would, but the internal magazine is apparently missing. No such thing as a "single-shot mosin nagant" was made, right?

Not to my knowledge. My only other idea was a 98k Mauser with a weird Mosinized stock.

I think, that's just the shadow.

Shurik's Mosin looks to be a full size 91/30 with the trigger converted and of course the stock being cut down and maybe a PPSH sling.

Kind of reminds me of the Japanese trainer Mosins that were made into single shots.

So it's basically a single-shot Mosin? I've never heard of those things. Why would they do that?

Is it a .22, ot a full-blown 7.62x54R? Thanks for the info, by the way; looks like there's another Mosin I don't have in my collection. I just have to find it now

ETA: Never mind the question, it helps to actually click on the provided links. It's a 7.62x54R.
