Why not start of on a Romy or Norinco? Why ruin a Russian?

Why ruin a Romainian either? There weren't a huge number of them made, much less than russians.

It's a bubba, but I've seen plenty worse.

I was at a local gun store recently and I saw a Russian SKS with a polymer stock and the previous owner painted the wooden hand guard black instead of buying matching plastic. Oh what a tragedy.

              Yikes! That is bad.
Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.

Makes me want to set up some kind of operation where I buy all these all guns to take them out of the hands of potential bubbas. Maybe I'll put them in some kind of locked metal shelter for safekeeping.

                      It's a calling.

Supply and demand. No new supply, plenty of demand for unmodified originals.

It's the same argument that's been used for any milsurp really. "I don't get it. It's just a crummy (1903/G43/SVT/matching K98/Arisaka/insert milsurp here). Years ago they had them in barrels!"

Hell, look at mosin carbines. Four years ago you could get them anywhere for less than $100. Now it's hard to find even a 91/30 for less than $100.
