H&R M1, Mixmaster?

I bought this beast off the wall at M.B. Retting a while back and am happy to say its a great shooter but I don't think its parts are correct. Apart from the barrel and gas cylinder, all the metal has a green parkerized finish and there were no wear marks on the bolt or receiver when I got it. The bore is shiny, looks perfect and an M2 ball round stops about 1/8" or better from the brass when inserted in the muzzle.
The receiver is an H&R #55057xx which from what i've read is from 1954
The barrel is stamped LMR and 10/53
The bolt has a SA at the end of the number, Springfield?
It has a lock bar rear sight which I'm told is WWII era.
The only marks on the stock are a P on the bottom of the pistol grip with no circle and the left side 0 4 1.

Could this have been built out of left over parts, or arsenal refurbished and stored complete?

The LMR BBL could very well be correct for your HRA.

The stock, bolt and lockbar are not correct.

I really doubt the lockbars would have been installed on arsenal rebuild. No telling if these parts were installed by rebuild or private individual.

It is a great shooter, and the parts you mention are all more valuable than the "correct" parts I think. You just have more to look forward to with your future acquisitions.

What book? It would be very rare for a HRA to be built with SA parts. Supposedly, it did happen, but not common and only with early HRA's

If it makes you happy, you can probably track down the correctish parts and sell the ones you don't want. I know whenever I get another Garand, there is a fetish to swap parts to try to make sure each one has the parts it should. Buying the correct parts gets expensive quick; it worse with WWII production Garands of course.

My old Gun Club Buddy, Fred D has a Garand History Book. Can't tell you what the title is.

Mine was built in the last two years of production. HRA receivers were plentiful & completed w/ a lot of Springfield parts.

No desire to swap out parts but I did stick a new Boyds stock on it last night. Trigger is nice, bore is nice, its a shooter. lock bar doesn't bother me, maybe down the road I'll get a set of NM sights.
