    59 yugo

I have a question on the 59 Yugo SKS variant, no grenade launcher, regular gas tube. I am
pretty sure this is classified C&R and can be transferred face to face without DROS. Am I correct? Anyone have one?

    Federal C&R yes.

California C&R not necessarily. Unless you can prove it is from 1960 - 1961 then is has to be dros'd due to california's 50 year rule.

60-61's are rare from my research.

Yes, the Yugo M59 is C&R. It is listed by name on the C&R list that ATF maintains.

To be exempt from dealer/DROS transfers in California a firearm must meet all three of these criteria...

      1. Must be a long gun
      2. Must be C&R
      3. Must be at least 50 years old

The M59 is a long gun and is C&R, but there is no way to tell if a particular M59 is over 50 years old yet. There are no records from the factory that associate serial numbers with date of manufacture. So the M59 only passes two of the three criteria for dealerless transfers in California. Production of the M59 ended in 1966, so in 2016 they will all be over 50 years old. But in 2014 the dealer transfer exemption goes away, so this won't help at all.

I'm down to my last three.

The M59 is 100% C&R in California. California does not have its own definition of C&R. Everything the Feds say is C&R is also C&R in California.

      You are correct about this.

Sorry for the confusion. Had half thoughts. Hehe. I meant cali dealerless like you said, the
Firearm has to be at least 50 years old.

Lemme know when you want to get rid of one of your M59's.
