My bet his next post reports it stolen and says he didn't bolt down his gun safe.

This has to be the most worthless thread of all time, yet for some stupid reason I have to bump it with this post; OP I HATE YOU!

Of course not. But didn't have pics. And without pics as they say....

I merely wanted to express the thought at the time that I think some of us, if not many of us, have experienced at some point at one time or another, that general feeling of "What was I thinking?", where the item in question is really immaterial. It could be a car, a watch, a guitar, a house, a firearm. So my frustration was implanted by leaving it a mystery; glad you all played along.

However, love the multitude of replies, which may just be more entertaining than my eventual finale! Yes, patience is a virtue; if I had to be patient to pick it up in this stupid state (no C&R/COE anymore), I suppose everyone else can be as well.

In any case, see photos - first post/this post.

Remington 81, in .35 Remington, 3-digit serial number, as near as mint can be for an 80 year old gun - even with the added sight (correct for the time, and actually very nice adjustable sights) and recoil pad added approximately same year as manufacture, also correct for the time-period. Barrel looks unfired. Barely any dings or scratches, just a few handling/storage pings in the stock, all minor. And since I had time to kill, I also took a few pics of my Remington 81 in .300 Savage, which is not too shabby in condition either.

Now with the Remington 81 in .300 Savage I probably paid about $400 too little for it, therefore I guess I can find solace in one having balanced out the other.

Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Enjoy the pics. Sorry everyone for the wait. My sincerest apologies, but discussing it and showing it are worlds apart.

The Remington 81 in .35 Remington in the post above, the notoriously over-pay in question (upper right in photo below of My two Remington 81s side by side) along with pics of my Remington 81 in .300 Savage. I have just never found a Remington 81 in any better condition in 20 years than the recent find of the .35 Rem.

To all the Clyde Barrows of the world.... behave.

Sweet rifle. I've been eyeing an engraved one that's been sitting in the racks of a LGS for over a year now. I just need a few other guns a little more right now.

I love the early autoloader Remmies. Now why can't Norinco turn out some of those puppies in 6.8 SPC for $299?
