Uh...We have a Gallery for that sort of post...Welcome Noob.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Painting the stock pink and chroming the hardware does not make it rare.

Hmm - I think it might make it *rare* but that doesn't make it *desirable*...

This is rare, but not desirable...

Alrighty. This is a 1934 Izhevsk 91/30 with the "PM-86" marking. This is one of five known Izhevsk 91/30s with this marking. There is one known Tula "PM-86" 91/30, it's also a 1934.

The wierd thing about this marking, is it only shows up on early 1934 dated 91/30s. The serials for the Izhevsk rifles are #146 (mine), 154(owned by Ted, the owner of 7.62x54r.net), 163 (pictured on 7.62x54r.net), and two in the 400 range. I've found pictures of 1934 Izhevsk 91/30 serial #s 2, and 770. They aren't PM 86 marked. I'd be interested to see if a 100 serial number range, and 400 serial number range 34 Izhevsk 91/30 could be found that isn't PM 86 marked. The 34 Tula PM 86 is #241.

It also has the "No" abbreviation before the serial number, which to my knowledge wasn't ever used by Izhevsk, except on the PM 86 rifles. It's common on earlier Tula rifles.

7.62x54r.net says "This is an Izhevsk M91/30 that has the "No" symbol before the serial number. It also has an unusual "PM 86" mark whose meaning is unknown and it's possible it is one of a special series that were numbered outside of regular production. Another PM 86 M91/30 has been reported numbered 437."

                            Anywho, the pics:

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774_1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764
