Nambu T-14

I was at the local gun store the other day doing a PPT and an old(er) guy came in wanting to sell one to the store. It looked to be in nice shape with an extra mag - they were only willing to give him $250 for it; he had started at $700 and worked his way down to $500. He wouldn't take less and walked out with it. I was tempted, but not tempted enough given that ammo is hard to get.Last edited by Swift Justice; 11-16-2011, 1:42 PM.Slow justice is no justice.
I was shooting a Glock when shooting a Glock wasn't cool.Comment

I have a friend that wants to sell an early T-14 Nambu made in Dec 1929 that is in 98% condition. He also has the holster in great condition complete with shoulder straps for sale as well. The gun has matching numbered magazine and other visible numbered parts are matching as well if anyone is interested. I think he wants $1800-$2000 for both together or something like that. Don't hold me to that price though. I know that early model Nambus in excellent condition are worth alot more than war year models.Comment

OK, I just wanted to make sure. I hear question all the time about can I shoot this in that because it's pretty close.
Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Early Type 14s are NOT worth a lot more than late ones. An early model will have the round small trigger guard.
If someone wants to pay $1500+ for an early Type 14, please contact me
There are different Japanese pistols that are worth a premium- the baby nambu, papa nabu, and if you EVER see one, a grandpa nambu. Totally different from the T-14, but they vaguely look similar externally.

Thank you for reaffirming what I thought was true but didn't want to say for fear of being in the wrong.Early Type 14s are NOT worth a lot more than late ones. An early model will have the round small trigger guard.

I remember when you couldn't give those things away, I guess times have changed.
In a state where corruption abounds, laws must be very numerous.

Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.

Not uncommon in the collecting world - the item that no one wanted is always the one that ends up being collectible. Makes me want to go out and buy every obvious POS product on the market and pack them away in sealed containers...He who exercises no forethought but makes light of his opponents is sure to be captured by them.

I say thank God for government waste. If government is doing bad things, it's only the waste that prevents the harm from being greater.

What kind of government do you guys got here? This is worse than California.

These days a Papa can be had for $1000-1500 even. GREAT time to be a buyer!
A lot of failures become instant collectibles- Colt "All American", COP .357, Semmerling LM-5 come to mind (though the LM5 was NEVER cheap).
The crown jewel of Nambus is the baby. Still a good $3000-4000 in today's market- but the darned things are so well made, and I hate to say it.. 'cute'.

If you want to shoot your Nambu, be sure to get a new spring set from Wolf http://www.gunsprings.com/ . All the pistols I've encountered seem to have worn out springs. You might also consider getting a spare firing pin as they are prone to breaking.
I've used Mr. Nambu's ammo and it works equally well in the Type 94, Type 14 and the Type 100. I found the Type 14 to be surprisingly accurate, and that might be due to the grip angle and the back sight.
There is a gent at the Cow Palace gunshow that sells 8mm Nambu, but I've yet to try it out.Comment
