    Shipment from Indiana to CA

I tried finding the answer before asking here, but had no luck.

    I am NOT a C&R holder

I am getting an old Marlin rifle, well over 100 years old. Can he ship it direct to me here in CA?

The only way he can ship it directly to you is if the rifle was made in 1898 or before. If it was made 1899 or later, it must go through an 01 FFL since you aren't a C&R holder.

Okay, I have a somewhat related question since I'm looking at getting some items out of state (Indiana as well actually). I thought I knew the answer but I'm confusing myself. I do have my C&R. There are a couple of sporterized Mosin's on GB that I want to use for projects. I know being sporterized cancels out the C&R status. But they're still over 50 years old so am I able to avoid going through an 01FFL?
