    AIMSURPLUS ammo question

I was reading their policy and noticed they require ID verification prior to purchase as well as record retention.

I understand they need to protect themselves but I thought that's what the shipping (ups, fedex) company is supposed to do?

I've never purchased ammo online before, is this common practice?

Yes, usually you can fax them a copy of your DL. The delivery will require an adult signature.

You can take a digital picture of your ID and send it to them online as a JPG, very easy to become registered with AIM. I have order C&R's and ammo from them and have been very happy with them.

AIMSurplus requires a copy of that ID to see if you're an adult.

I've had a lot of ammo shipped from them, but an adult signature was never required. I would find the package waiting for me on my doorstep.

              AIM is GtG for ammo...

When I first ordered from J&G Sales, they said I could either send them a copy of my DL to prove age, or they could send the ammo "Adult Signature Required". It's a few dollars cheaper if they don't send it "Adult Signature Required", so I sent them a copy of my DL.

With AIM there wasn't an option. I had to send a copy of my DL and the ammo arrived without a signature required.

That's why it's better to get it at gun shows. None of that ridiculous junk required.

I'd rather deal with a company that doesn't feel the need to have a copy of my DL on file. That's just asking for identity theft. SGAmmo or J&G Sales would get my business if I did buy ammo mail-order.

Ive found pricing at the gun shows has been sort of meh lately.... Then again Ive gotten into reloading so it throws of my perception of a good deal. The only thing I like to get from them ammo wise is the self defense ammo which if you like me and only need a few boxes its not worth it online with shipping and everything.

If you pay with a CC, they know how old you are. I have never had to send in a DL to buy ammo, but have never bought any from AIM.
