    Antique store find!

My Mom told me about this store maybe a month ago and I pretty much forgot about it. This morning the wife and I decided to go for a drive and I remembered my Mom telling me about this store so I decided to go check it out, not expecting anything to be honest. Saw some bayonets on a back table and got a little excited. Most I didnt know what they were, a few Korean era US bayos, odd mauser bayos, and a British bayo or two. Anyway while I was walking out I saw another bayo handle poking out from some old junk and here is what I found!

Cell phone pic so not the best. Type 2 German 98-05 Sawback Bayonet (unground) with scabbard. Unsharpened and still has hard yellow dried cosmo on areas of the blade/handle/ect. Marked ANKER-WERKE BIELEFELD. No date. Talked em down to $130 OTD. I think I did good!

Nice! Now you got to buy a rifle to go with it!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Yes I know. I have a few K98's but no Gew98's. This is the reason I have never bought a Swiss sawback. I dont have a K11 or K31 either.

That's just an incentive to pick up the rifle: "Well hell, I've got the bayonet, but nothing to mount it to." Or, vice versa: "Well, I've got the is tree branch, but nothing to cut it with. Hmmm...."

I agree that bayonet is worthless without the gun.

Imperial German bayonet makers and the types each firm produced from 1871-1918. Illustrations of maker markings and Royal Cyphers.

The chart implies this company made them from1871 to 1905.

My research shows this maker made them from 1915-18. It has the flash guard do it was profited for use on a carbine.

I bought one of those in 1980 for $15. Got the rifle

(gew 98) for it 2 years ago for $89 at Big5. Also had to get an SMLE for another bayonet I own. I still have lonely bayonets waiting for a 03 spr and a Lee Metford and a K98.
