notching the SVT for scope mount process??

has anyone ever put the notch on their SVT for the scope mount?

I am wondering what and how it's done...

hmmm...after asking around general consensus is do not do anything to the rifle.....



hmmm....yes I must rethink things then....

I bought a mis-matched SVT...and then a 300$ repro mount for it....

so adding the scope mount with scope is going to devalue the rifle??

hmmm... well maybe there's a notchless method for sliding the mount on and keeping it in place....

maybe bending the slide arms inward to hold it on by tension...(bending the repro mounting arms)

B-Square made such a mount for the SVT but they're pretty hard to find. Didn't require a notch and was held in place by set screws.

I have two SVT-40's and considered adding a notch for a scope. I am glad I did not. It devalues the rifle and does not give the result you want.

The premier forum for SVT 40's and 38's is below.. Bubba jobs on SVT's are strongly discouraged. Those that have done so, now regret it. There are many stories and reasons..

For the love of Ivan, don't Bubba a SVT. Yours was never a sniper rifle, why fake it? Other posters are right, value will take a hit, especially long term. And the repro mounts really stink to begin with. Don't do it.
