    Fondled a Finnish M39 yesterday...

I was on break and just finished eating lunch, turning the corner and BAM!
Right there in front of me was the Old West Gun Room.

    I damn near fainted!

Checked out all the C&R's I could and two were M39's another two I liked were Jungle Carbines.

I got all wet and gooey inside with pure gun love.

But why did I like them there M39's so much?
    What is it about them?

Thanks to the Old West Gun Room proprietor for being nice and informative.
I have a new place to do buidness.

Well, you like wood and the M39's tend to have nicer wood than the 91/30's do. Same functionality as the 91/30's just more refined, especially the front sight.

By the way, how much were they going for?

Ol' Bob was being sexist. He hates Men!

But he has some nice old C&R stuff.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

OHOD, if you like M-39s, just wait till you get ahold of an M-28 or a 28-30... That's when you know you've got the addiction and there's no turning back

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

They're very nice rifles to hold, but half the loving is in the SHOOTING.

I own a Finnish M39 and love it!
(actually it was a b-day present)
It shoots like dream, I have two 91-30 and the beats them EVERY time.
            You won't regret getting one!

I love Old West! If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it's in Redding. I have bought more than a few guns there, and also over at Jones' Fort. I used to work up there, but I don't get up there any more. It's a great shop, if it's the one I'm thinking of. Hope you get the m39, they rock.

^ This Old West is in El Cerrito, just north of Berkeley.
But now I have somewhere else to stop, next time I drive up north. Thanks CD.

It was a sign. I would like a pristine one. Someday.

That's what I was thinking. A sign. Yup.

I'm at the point in my Mosin collection that I have a bunch of good basic ones. I think it might be time to branch out.

I just got a nice plum barrel m39 a couple if weeks ago. It does shoot about half the size as my 1927 m91/30. The best part was the bore looked like it was never shot. I plan on reloading some good ammo for it then keeping it in the safe while beating on the 1927 until it can't take anymore.

SOG also has Jungle Carbine parts guns for $150. You don't seem to be afraid of a project, OHOD.
