I recently acquired a 9x18 Makarov, and the ranges around me do not allow "any ammo that is attracted to a magnet". Some of the descriptions of the 9x18 Mak ammo I have seen say it is "steel cased" (obviously that's a no-no for me), but others just say things like "zinc-plated case" or "bi-metal FMJ". Is there somewhere online that gives more specific info that I can use to figure out what I can buy and what to avoid? I'm really hoping the answer will not be "any ammo that is reasonably priced is ammo I can't use"...

). The gun belonged to my father-in-law. It is an IJ70-18AH, so, it's a common Russian commercial with the hi-cap mag and adjustable rear sight. Looks like it might be fun to shoot!
