A buddy just called and wanted info on an older SxS shotgun. It's a Baker Leader 12ga. I know that Baker was a company from Batavia NY and had a few different models, but anyone have more info?
The Gun Traders book lists a few different models. There's a 60% deduction in value for a Damascus barrelled gun. Very doubtful that his gun has that type of barrel, but what is the easiest way to check? From what I remember, the appearance has sort of a tiger striped or mottled look, as opposed to a shiny smooth blue finish.
Any recommendations for a gun smith to check it out in the East SF Bay area? My first inclination is that he has a nice old American made gun that is perfect for the field using normal powered (or lower) lead shot, but should have it checked out first.
Thanks
