    Force matched serial number?

I hope i am wrong but i think my P 38 is not a matching numbered gun as descibed when i purchased it. Just found out about force matched guns perhaps someone can help me out with some good news.

Thats what i suspected, i was hoping by some wild stretch of the imagination that i had some rare war time relic. But it looks like i just have a gun thats fun to shoot. beware of guns you buy on gun broker where it says the gun in the picture is not the actual gun. it should still have some value.

Alot of reasons to replace a slide; Original got broken, was rebuilt/refurbed at some point in its life, etc. Sounds like you got a nice shooter, enjoy it.

It looks like you have a Mauser top which is a force match to the Walther bottom. Does the bottom have the small parts stamped with a E/359? It most likely a VOPO rework pistol.

It's too bad, but you have to keep an eye out for the language used in many adverts. Too many words is a good tip off, as in "bolt numbers are matched to the rifle" as opposed to "all original matching parts". Any qualifier such as "arsenal matched" should raise suspicion as should anything that expresses an opinion like "we believe ....."

Depending on price & the seller's advert I might be inclined to leave less than wonderful feedback if this was bought on line.

Gun broker does not show this seller anylonger in my gunbroker as it only goes back 90 days.Guess i should have spoke up sooner and yes it does say 359 on the frame with some lines on top and 135 on the slide with the same lines.
