The receiver might be okay to use, it would be worn as hell though. And that barrel would do you as much good as a smooth bore musket. If you got it re-barreled it would probably work just fine.

At 79 dollars(before shipping) for 440 rounds, 100,000 rounds would cost you $17,954.54 now let's say 4 seconds a shot with 8 seconds to reload (so 28 seconds per 5 shots) you'd have to shot that rifle for 155 hours. I don't see it possible and yes I'm sure the barrel would wear out. But it wouldn't before you'd probably go broke just paying for the ammo

Lol at 17.954.54 for 7.62x54... I would hate to see how much 100,000 of 5.56 would run!!!!

Ruining barrels is MUCH more cost effective with the ridiculously high velocity rounds like .220 Swift and .22-250. Couple thousand rounds above 4k FPS should do it just fine.

100,000 .30-06 or .308 know that would cost you a pretty penny.

Some of those MARSOC .45 1911s I've seen are still on original Colt frames, if that tells you anything about military guns. The one I specifically saw a picture of, it was a 1918 dated frame. IIRC, someone was carrying it in Iraq.

Handguns generally last longer than rifles, due to much lower pressures. Also, you don't know how much that 1911 was used (for example, a friend of mine served on a destroyer way back when. The duty handguns they were issued for some watches from the armory were carried a lot and shot almost never), and how loose it is now.

or die, and have your kids carry the legacy of trying to break a mosin or mauser action.

It's surely possible to wear out a rifle.

I have an old Chinese Mauser which has a bore like a sewer pipe- probably a combo of overuse and undercleaning- and they tended to use their equipment to death anyways before it was retired.

It would take a brave and foolish man to fire that thing- I'm sure it could be rebarreled, but that hurts collector value And I have an M48 if I have an itch to fire a Mauser-like rifle.

I remember my grandfather had an old garand that you could just drop a .308 bullet down the muzzle and it would come out the other end. It still functioned properly but wouldn't hit anything worth a damn.
