Yeah, don't waste those rounds. They are collector items. Brass and the correct sized bullets are readily available. Reloading these is no harder than any other bottle-necked round. And you can get decent accuracy out of them. I have used mine to pop the odd rabbit here and there.

Before you shoot it, see if it has any collector value. Unless it's been reblued, your Nambu is in very good condition. They don't usually look that good.

I've got a WWII bringback an elderly relative gave to me. It appears to be unfired, all matching numbers including two magazines and a fabric holster. Don't know how much it's worth, but it's I've never even thought of shooting it.

Nambus are some of the fugliest guns I've seen. You have a beautiful specimen there.

Looks like the quality was still very good in 1943. These showed up on the Communist side in the Korean War, and in various guerrilla conflicts in Southeast Asia (Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaya, etc.). Good handgun; weak cartridge. GREAT collector's item.

The cartridge isn't all that weak compared to it's contemporaries. When you look at some of the other rounds that were used in sidearms when the 1904 model came out (the Papa Nambu), it is ahead of the .32 ACP and 7.62 Nagant. It even rates right up there with the .38 Long Colt that we adopted 12 years before. Ok, that isn't saying much, but still... It only looks weak when compared to much larger cartridges like the .45 ACP or 9x19.

Wolf makes replacement springs for both the T94 and T14. All the Nambus that I have encountered have very weak springs. I'm not sure if it was a problem with war time expedience or just spring fatigue due to age.

My T14 was quite accurate, but not too reliable. Very first shot was directly on the x of the bullseye at an indoor range. Second round didn't chamber.

Don't feel bad. If I couldn't remember that the war ended on 1945 (Showa 20), I'd never get the dates right!
If you go to any Cow Palace shows, there is a gentleman (http://www.loadxammo.com/) that sells newly made 8mm Nambu. Not cheap of course, but what is these days?
