    More bubba questions

I'm trying to go deer hunting this fall. I'd rather not drag my Mosin's m38's stock thru the woods after fixing it up. I'm looking at the ATI stock or the Boyd's. My plan is to drop the action and barrel into the new stock, with a minimum of hassle and be able to put it back into the original. Is this a feasible plan? I've read various stories of them not fitting well without serious mods. I don't want to bubba it, so thats the plan.

Ok, that is not a bubba question. And yes, it makes sense for taking your rifle out. I have not heard much on these stocks either way. You might also look at some of the scope mounts that replace the rear sight base. Those also don't require any permanant modification to the rifle. Good luck!

I have a 91/30 action in a cherry wood thunb hole stock, I put it in a ATI first but the area the triger/magizne slips up into was a tight fit and it puts a little squeeze on the magizne and it wont feed right. I plan to file the inside of the magazine slot to make a little room in the future, I was out where I shoot when I found out and just switched it to the cherry stock at that time. The action fit great in the ATI except for the tightness of the mag, I got it on ebay pretty cheap, the guy stated it was used.... assembled but never fired. it won't take much time to fix I just have put it off. The ATI felt great assembled when it was up to my shoulder.

I did not have to bubba anything at all and in just a couple minutes the action can be put back into the original stock. The only thing that took more than a screwdriver was taking off the front sight to get the small barrel band off. I just looked at my M38 and the small band looks the same size as the 91/30. I have not looked into the scope mount yet but have heard the same as gun toting monkeyboy said.
