    Sling for Persian Mauser?

    Hi guys,

This might be a long shot, but it's worth asking. I purchased my father a Model 98/29 Persian Mauser Long Rifle from SAMCO. I need a sling for it but my father is picky about the sling. At the bottom of the post is a picture of 2 different soldiers holding Mausers with slings attached. I realize the picture is bad, but you can sort of make out the slings.

Would any of you happen to know where I can buy an original or reproduction sling that looks like the one in the pictures? If not, how about a source on the internet? I've already sent him about a dozen links for slings for sale but he didn't like any of them.

    Thanks,
    Emil

The slings I've seen, and what was on mine, are British WW1 leather slings. The picture shows a sling with a metal buckle. It also shows that particular fellow wearing a U.S. web cartridge belt.

Correct slings will probably be impossible to not only figure out but procure. I use older Swedish slings on everything anymore but I tend to be more mellow in my old age.

Great info, I will look to see if I can find some WW1 British slings.
      Thanks,
      Emil

Yeah, those are the WW1 British slings usually found on the Persian 98/29.
