Mosin Help. Scope/Mount/Trigger

I'm planning on putting a scope on my Mosin, but I know nothing on scopes/mounting.

I'm on a budget around $200, so the cheaper the better.

Scope and mount cannot perm modify.

Do not wan't long relief pistol scope.

Looking to be shooting 100-500yards.

Does anyone have any suggestions? What mount works best? and whats a good cheap scope?

+ I have a heavy trigger/ trigger play, does anyone know how to make it lighter?

Dont go too cheap on the scope. I had one break and think it may be the recoil of the gun. Cant be sure, but it fell apart on the first day.

Check JMECK mounts, I believe the only modification that you have to sand a little into the woodstock, but under the receiver. So if you have ever have to remove the scope, your mod won't be noticeable. See below for an older thread...

Some people have also taken off the rear sight/mount and used the dovetails under it for clamp on scope rings -- you'd still need a pistol/long eye relief scope though.

I dont have pictures, but my M38 has a scope mounted using a kit that installs on the rear sight. You just remove the site by pressing out the pin, and install the mount.
I have been using it for a while and it seems to work really good.
Best part is, you can remove it, install the original rear sight and the gun looks and is original.

I dont know where to get them, as it was on my rifle when I got it, but I have seen them at gun shows for sale.

My setup runs around $175, and will outshoot and outlast that one with NO PERMANENT MODIFICATION. 11 years now, and it has not lost zero. I only adjust the zero for hunting ammo.

ive seen Howie44's rifle and seen him shoot it & shot it myslelf as well. Howie's mount works great & retains zero. He's who Id go to with any question re 7.62x54r rifles. He knows about Ruski's and the other versions

Ive heard and from what ive seen those mounts are absolutely garbage. Just pop off the rear sight and mount a riser then work from there. too bad you don't want long eye relief what i have on my m28 and works like a dream and cost me 90-110 including the scope. Any questions on the rear sight removal pm me and ill help ya out

That's a long time, but it looks like a great way to do it with no permanent mods. Maybe the long wait will be worth it
