Ammo and firearm ordered at the same time?

I just mailed my first C&R to AIM and Classic Arms and am ready to order a K
31 and a K98. I want to order some ammo too. Is there any law that says you can't order a firearm AND ammo at the same time? I vaguely remember seeing something like that but I can't locate that law.

It's perfectly legal to order both firearms and ammunition at the same time. But they just have to be shipped in different packages. That's probably what you are thinking of.

I don't think it is even law, but rather UPS and FedEx rules. There is nothing in the Gun Control Act about it and I can't find anything about it in the DOT ammo shipping regulations. If there is a law it might be burried somewhere else in the DOT regulations, but I doubt it, since airlines allow you to include firearms and ammo in the same case when you check baggage.

Federal law does require you to use a common carrier to ship ammo and UPS and FedEx are the only two common carriers who accept ammo shipments, so their company rules end up being defacto law here.

I guess the carrier is worried that if one of their employees finds a firearm with a case of ammo, they might go "postal" on everyone......
