    Another day at the range.

We were testing out target loads. The usual 16 grains of 2400 under a 180 grain gas check lead bullet. I had to crank the sights up to 300 meters to get it on target at 100 yards, but it was accurate enough to smash clay pigeons sitting on the bank.

Had me going w/ the .223 box on the bench!

So is that a pretty soft recoil now? 16 grains is pretty minute for a 180 grn bullet!
Did you buy new brass or find some reloadable cases?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Escondido Fish and Game range down in San Diego county. I will post pictures of my niece shooting it too soon. I have been told that I MUST bring this the next time we go shooting by both of them. I'll have to cast some more bullets soon. I am waiting on the 8mm mold to get here as well, as I have several 8mm cartridges that would also work with the same basic load. In the 7.62, the bullets were sized to .310" and lubed with lubealox, and worked just fine.

(edit) The .223 box was left over from the AR a few minutes before. You can see a few of the loaded rounds in the lower left of the picture. The brass is a mix of Grafs, Norma and a few Winchester Metric. The reason I loaded this up is because I had cleaned and primed the brass several years ago and then packed it up to move. It was looking very tarnished and almost about to start corroding. So we shot all the ugly ones, and they are tumbling now. 16 grains is a light load, but it is what they recommend as THE light target load for cast bullets in older military cartridges on many of the cast bullet forums. It is good for plinking out to about 200 yards.
