The M1 was adopted in 1936 or 1937. Didn't really get to the troops in huge quantities until after the war was going full swing.
The 1903/A2 was a sub-caliber practice/spotting device used on artillery pieces. Basically a 1903 barreled action mounted in a co-axial cradle attached and bore sighted to the cannon. I believe it's main function was economical artillery practice.
The 1903/A3 was a substitute/standard rifle that was basically an easier to manufacture 1903. More use of stampings and such to minimize production time and cost.
