another newbie black powder question

so i bought a lyman great plains bp rifle. fun times had by all on the first day at the range with it. now here's the newbie question. i looked up the manual for the rifle on lyman's site, and it doesn't address this question: when is it appropriate, if ever, or even possible to remove the threaded breech plug? i replaced the cap nipple, because it was a bit battered, and noticed the plug is threaded into the back end of the barrel. sparked a question that i figured the wizards here might be able to answer. thanks in advance.

Leave the plug alone; clean the gun and your'e good to go.

As above leave the breech plug alone, I use hot soapy water for cleaning and rinse with hot water, when dry light coat of oil which is removed before I shoot next time, If you don't oil after the rinse expect rust.
