Mosin Nagant Question

Hey everyone, so everyday i log in and see everyone showing off their Mosin's and i have decided to get one myself my question is were is the best place in or near Sacramento were i can purchase one? I know Big5 probably carry's them but is there anywhere else nearby that has them? Also what should i look for when purchasing one? tnx in advance.

I am in SoCal so I can't help you with dealers in your area, but... I will suggest you look into either buying one from someone in the Marketplace forum here or getting an 03FFL so the nice UPS driver can hand you one at your front door.

I can only speak for mine, but it was pretty easy, and I think it has gotten even easier since I think you can not download the pdf form from ATF. They charged my credit card within about 3 days of my mailing it in to them and I received my 03FFL within about 30 days.

I broke my 03FFL in with a visit to J&G in Prescott, AZ where I walked out the door with a Mosin Nagant 91/30 and a Nagant M1895. Aim Surplus has a system where you can send in a JPG of your 03FFL and your CDL to be registered with them.

Both have been outstanding to deal with. I can get a 91/30 delivered to my door from either place for just under $100 (some variations do cost more). So, the cost of the 03FFL is $30 for 3 years plus $100 = about $130 for the first 91/30 and about $100 thereafter. A 91/30 on sale at Big 5 is about $100 + tax, about $9 + DROS = $134. Buy another 91/30 from Big 5 later and its about $100 + tax (about $9), + DROS ($25)= $134

Most places also have a quantity discount, buy more, save more.

The only thing I recommend is that you spend the time waiting for your 03FFL by buying a bigger gun safe.

I picked one up from AIM Surplus for $79.95 end of last week - 03FFL so UPS straight to my door. With the added drive to the collection center as I was stuck at work. Bah.

Can't really help with dealers in Sacramento - personally wouldn't consider Grande5 as the past three times I've been in, their Mosin's have started a $179 and the store manager stated he wouldn't do sale price... even though you can happily get them online for less than $100 if you look around.

If you can get them on their sale at Big5 though, then maybe it's a win, but still not as win as getting your 03FFL

Ok I think im going the 03FFL route it seems pretty easy, go to ATF website fill out the form's mail and wait? or is the PDF on ATF website not excepted any more ? Thank you guys for your help so far.

Fill it in (use Acrobat if you can, as it'll duplicate for the second copy for you), mail the one with the credit card details to the BATFE at the address listed and mail the second one to your local CLEO (whom you can find on the local Sheriff / PD's website)

I bought my first rifle, which happened to be a 91/30 from big 5 on sale, for 119.99 for the laminate stock model. Am in the process of getting my 03FFL so I can have any future mosins shipped to my door.
